Background
This was an island theme fundraising dinner that began with 300 attendees in year one and grew to 600 attendees by year three. The target audiences were college alumni, current and retired SCC facility and staff, and the community. In a crowded field of similar events, the growth was fueled by a creative island theme that included “Captain Bob’s Dive Bar.” To maximize the fun factor, the theme as carried out with a full bar menu, extensive theme decorations, and a live band with dancing in the Dive Bar. This created a unique experience for crab and shrimp lovers.
