Curt Johnston
President and Founder of West Wind Music, SPC.
Curt Johnston is the President and Founder of West Wind Music & Events, SPC. The company was formed in 2024 while Curt served as Executive Director of the Solano Community College Educational Foundation. The initial purpose of the company was to produce a country music festival as a fundraiser for disadvantage youth in Solano County. The cost of the music festival was beyond the means of a non-profit, so Mr. Johnston made the bold move to leave his position as Executive Director in 2025. He formed the for-profit social purpose corporation to carry out Vineyard Jam Suisun Valley. The company has since expanded its mission to assist private businesses, non-profits and public agencies with event planning and fundraising. The company is a means for Curt to carry out his passion for supporting disadvantaged youth while enjoying an exciting career in the music industry, event planning, and fundraising.
Mr. Johnston served as Executive Director of the Solano Community College Educational Foundation for thirteen years (2012-2025). Working with the non-profit board of directors, Mr. Johnston began the process of creating an organization essentially from the ground up. This included preparation of marketing materials, creation of the website and social media pages, establishing new outreach and fundraising events, planning multiple fundraiser programs, establishment of an SCC Alumni Association, and recruitment of foundation board members. During his time, the foundation has provided approximately $3.5M in support for Solano Community College and SCC students.
In 2025-2026, Curt is also the President of the Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club. Curt has been a Rotarian for over a decade, and he is putting is practical experience and passion toward running an outstanding club of approximately 65 members.
Prior to his time at Solano Community College, Mr. Johnston enjoyed a thirty-year career in California municipal planning, redevelopment, economic development and public real estate. His career included 22 years working for the City of Fairfield in the Community Development Department. He is a past member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional.
Curt grew up in Vacaville California and attended Solano Community College. He transferred to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he received his Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning. In his private life, Curt has been an active volunteer in Solano County for the past 30 years. Curt’s primary hobbies are vintage car racing and sailing. He and his wife Debbie are long-time residents of Fairfield, CA., and they have four adult sons.
